Voices Advocating for Children provides trained volunteers to advocate for children in the following areas:

  • Family Based Safety Services
  • Juvenile Probation
  • Emergency Youth Shelter

Family Based Safety Services (FBSS) is a unit of Child Protective Service (CPS).  If CPS investigations determine that the level of risk in the home does not warrant removal of the child(ren) from their home, services will be provided to the family by FBSS to ensure a safe and stable environment for the child(ren).  A VOICES volunteer will work alongside the FBSS caseworker to ensure the family is being provided appropriate assistance, is utilizing services offered, and is following the guidelines set forth by the FBSS caseworker.

Juvenile Probation- VOICES volunteer opportunities include providing transportation to required probation services, as well as supervising any community service hour requirements as needed. Visit the Voices website to downlaad an application to volunteer.

Supervised Visitation Program-VOICES will provide supervised visitations for the non-custodial parent in divorce/custody cases. VOICES will follow a court-ordered supervision schedule.  Visits are charged by the hour, and fees are determined by a sliding scale, based on income and number of children.

VOICES has space available that can be utilized by Child Protective Services and law enforcement agencies in Wise and Jack Counties for children in need of emergency shelter. Also, Wise County DA's office, CPS, and Wise County law enforcement may use the Voices office to perform forensic interviews on children who have alledgedly been sexually abused. Volunteers will be utilized for these parts of the program as needed. Our office offers a more comfortable environment while being interviewed or waiting to be interviewed.

VOICES has other volunteer opportunities, such as clerical, fundraising  or serving on the Board of Directors.
